The Peculiar Pretzelmen with
Had I Known

Black blooded sneaky so and so’s in pin stripe suits careening wildly through the shadows and gutters of neglected culture, the Peculiar Pretzelmen strum, slam, stomp, smack, smash, and scream the old and abandoned incantations raising the specters of all the spirits we left for dead. Pounding drums speaking in tongues, restlessly reinventing roadmaps until the riddles are all undone.

The Artisinals with Whitacre

Somewhere on a dusty road or a well traveled interstate, right at this very moment, a rock n’ roll band is pounding the rock. They’re probably wearing the same clothes they had on yesterday, and reminiscing about last night’s gig. Inspired by a guitar lick that cuts to the bone or a melody that lingers on refrain, this band is following a path forged by countless other musicians who’ve lived and died in dive bars or ‘made it’ with their posters taped to bedroom walls. What makes this band of brothers any different? This band is The Artisanals.

Whitacre's music combines thought-provoking lyrics with 3-part vocal harmonies paired with an energetic live experience that has drawn a comparison to Susto, Caamp and The Lumineers. whitacreband.com

"My stride on this album is a bit dark and haunting, but hopefully in an alluring way."Mark is best known as a solo artist, and as former front man of indie/emo rock band Spitalfield. He has spent the greater part of the past decade writing, recording, and performing--and is showing no signs of slowing down. Alternative Press Magazine writes, "Rose’s debut solo album, Wonderful Trouble (2011, self-released), has the style and emotion of a John Hughes movie soundtrack."

Patrick Dethlefs
with special guests

Patrick Dethlefs
(Pronounced “DET-Lefs”)
Patrick Dethlefs’ songwriting crests like a humble Townes Van Zandt, innocent of his own haunting melodies and lyricism. Dethlefs’ new release Fall and Rise offers folk Americana with effortless sincerity at a time when many acts strive purposefully to revive the stripped-down feel of a musical history long past. Now only in his early 20s, Patrick won the Best Teen Songwriter Award (2009) at Swallow Hill Music—one of the largest non-profit organizations in the U.S. dedicated to developing folk and acoustic music. Patrick also received Best Song and Best Performance. Perhaps the innate nostalgia embedded in Patrick’s music takes root in the age at which he began playing. Inspired by his father who he lost when he was young, Patrick first picked up a guitar when he was 12. Also a musician, Patrick’s father leaves a crescendoing legacy through his son who is not only humble, but humbling, through his unassuming creative presence.

"Whether laying down some succulent psychotropic hip-hop as DJ Flow Nase, feeding off of severely distorted barre chords with the riff-heavy punk band A Poor Substitute, or lending distinctive vocal abilities to the peculiar and hypnotic "funeral pop" band The Mexican, Pueblo's Inaiah Lujan is plainly a restless soul." -Adam Leech, The Independent.

Kyle Emerson
with The Spirettes

Folk rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Kyle Emerson broke out with his debut EP, 'Worth It', in May of 2017. With that first release, Emerson has quickly become one of Denver's most promising talents. Mixing swift finger-picking, breathy vocals, and tell-all-lyrics, Emerson tight ropes a blend of the harmonious folk rock of the 60's with a twist of modern sonics.

On his debut full-length, 'Dorothy Alice' (via Guilty Pleasure Records), Emerson showcases a poise and maturity for the craft of songwriting far beyond his years.

The Spirettes
Originally named after the band’s lead guitarist “Katey Sleeveless,” the power trio Spirettes Kate Perdoni [guitar/vocals], Kellie Palmblad [bass/vocals], and Emily Gould [drums/vocals] formed in Colorado Springs in spring 2017. The ethereal guitar-driven rock, supported by pop structures and sprinkled with myriad ghostly female vocals, launched a unique sound, style, and collaboration which quickly garnered interest and local notoriety.

Spirettes’ influencing sounds range from Warpaint in vocal creativity, to early Broken Social Scene’s guitar layering, paying tribute to hints of darker 80’s and 90’s new-wave as in New Order or The Cure. Classic guitar riffs and songwriting borrow from Neil Young and Crazy Horse, and dynamic spaces between heavy and soft lend tribute to Yo La Tengo.

Bluebook
with Porlolo

Bluebook -
Enigmatic, otherworldly, and thoroughly affecting, Bluebook is a musical duo featuring the songwriting of Julie Davis and musical contribution of Jess Parsons. Processed upright bass, light percussion, and distant keyboards combine to support a monumental approach to vocal harmony that conjures the ur-myth of the American Woman.

Porlolo
.. is a true labor of love, with good friends finding peace and party times through musical connection. Formed in Denver in 2002 by the eccentric and prolific Erin Roberts, Porlolo has been a highly collaborative project. Roberts—a self-defined sister, swimmer and stunt artist—is a powerful songwriting force, cranking out grungy, sometimes twangy, often pure pop hits. Over her last 15 years of deliberate wandering through Denver, Gunnison, Eugene and most recently Fort Collins, Roberts draws inspiration from the dramatic landscapes and even more dramatic personalities.

Buffalo Gospel with special guests

Buffalo Gospel
At the heart of all great music is a story, and for that matter, a storyteller. The stories behind Milwaukee-based Buffalo Gospel begin with its founder Ryan Necci and his early introduction, through his father’s record collection, to country music, John Prine and Townes Van Zandt. Growing up in a small, lower middle class farm town, the songs of love and loss and broken blue-collar dreams seeped into him. When he started writing his own music over a decade ago, it was inevitable that the timeless quality of Country/Western and Americana arrangements would profoundly inform his art.

Bison Bone
with New Mexican

“Bison Bone’s new single Cryin’ Shame is exactly what Americana rock should sound like. It has plenty of soul and with the deep hearty vocals it feels like the singer truly knows the pain of what the song describes. Couple that with the strong guitar riff and you’ve got yourself a song to listen to at least three times a day.” -303 Magazine

New Mexican is the solo project of American folk rock musician Matt Hoffman.

Born in Las Cruces, NM and raised in Fort Collins, CO, Hoffman grew up singing and playing piano, drums and guitar. His father is the son of a New Mexican small businessman who was the owner of Hoffman's Melody Shop in Alamogordo, NM during the late 1940s through the late 1960s. Hoffman's mother was born in Hanover, Germany, the daughter of a rocket scientist. In the 1950's, her family immigrated to the U.S., landing at Holloman Air force Base in southern New Mexico. Hoffman feels strongly connected with these roots: his earliest musical instruction came from his Oma, a talented musician and painter, whose artwork of myriad New Mexican landscapes is featured on this website. Hoffman also plays his father's 1973 Guild Dreadnought as his main acoustic.

The Dodos with We Are Not A Glum Lot

“If it was exciting in any way, we pursued it without hesitancy or question.”

To make Certainty Waves, their seventh album as The Dodos, guitarist Meric Long and percussionist Logan Kroeber had to forget everything they knew about what it meant to be The Dodos.Like the duo's breakout sophomore album Visiter (which celebrates its 10-year anniversary in 2018), Certainty Waves finds The Dodos embracing the unlimited possibilities of a time when there were no preconceptions of what the band should sound like. Questions like whether the band needed to be more than just “acoustic guitar and drums,” and just what exactly the ratio should be of acoustic vs. electric guitar suddenly took a backseat to the realization that so much emphasis was mistakenly being put on form rather than spirit.Perhaps not surprisingly, this epiphany occurred while the band was re-learning Visiter for a show in which they were to perform the record in its entirety. www.facebook.com/dodosmusic/

We Are Not a Glum Lot is a post/experimental/rock trio from Colorado Springs Colorado. The group consists of Zac Blum on Bass, Reggie Thompson on Drums, and Singer/Guitarist Sam Erickson. In 2012, the group was named "Best Indie-Rock Band" by the Colorado Springs Independent." The group cites Modest Mouse, Foals, Explosions in the Sky, the Smiths, and the Strokes to be some of their main influences.

Slim Cessna’s Auto Club
with Kid Congo Powers + Pink Monkey Birds

There comes a moment in every Slim Cessna’s Auto Club show when you realize you’re seeing something you’ll never see anywhere else. It’s Slim Cessna in a whitecowboy hat and beard, the lights haloing his ungainly frame, horn-rimmed glasses flashing through the smoke. He’s trading lyrics and insults with Munly Munly, gaunt and strange, dressed in a shade of black particular to preachers and burnt down barns. Their voices rise and converge in the kind of exquisite harmony usually found in Sacred Harp congregations, and then the band cuts loose, the best live band in the world, and the two men are doing battle, playing out some cathartic war between good and evil on stage. Or trading dance steps. You can’t tell. http://scacunincorporated.com/

Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds' fourth and strongest album yet for In The Red Records, “La Araña Es La Vida”, summons the Mexican muse of The Great Spider Goddess of Teoticuhan, who sprouts hallucinogenic morning glories and protects the underworld, or in Kid’s eyes, the world of underground music. Recorded at The Harveyville High School gym in Kansas, Guitar slinger and singer, the legendary Kid Congo Powers (The Gun Club, The Cramps, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds), bassist Kiki Solis (Baby Baby Dance With Me, Knife in The Water, Rhythm of Black Lines), drummerRon Miller (Switch Hitter, Up The Academy) are joined by Chicano, Mosrite playing guitarist Mark Cisneros(Medications, Deathfix) on this self-produced ball of wax.
